WFP (World Food Programme)

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization and the frontline in the fight against hunger. In recognition of its role in preventing famine and promoting peace in conflict affected settings, WFP was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020.

As of 2026, WFP continues to operate at the intersection of emergency response and long-term resilience. While the organization is often the first to arrive during armed conflicts, climate disasters, or economic collapses, it remains long after the initial crisis to help communities rebuild. In the current global landscape, where 318 million people face acute food insecurity, WFP’s mission to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger has never been more vital. WFP reached more than 124 million people in 74 countries in 2025.

The WFP Nordic and Baltic Office serves as a strategic entry point for public and private stakeholders in the region with an interest in fighting hunger together with WFP.

The Office is dedicated to building new and innovative partnerships with Nordic stakeholders engaged in the development of sustainable food systems, as well as to strengthening and expanding WFP’s collaboration with existing partners.

We also aim to enhance broad political engagement to ensure food security remains a key priority for Nordic and Baltic governments and expand WFP’s engagement with Nordic and Baltic private sector actors to leverage the region’s innovative business environment and world-leading expertise in areas such as technology and logistics.

The Office also carries out engagement with other external partners in the region, such as academia and civil society, and communicates the work of WFP to the broader public through engagement with traditional and social media.
