Join us on November 7 at UN City Copenhagen for an insightful event on the implications of the EmissionsGapReport for#COP30.
This high-level dialogue will unpack the findings of the Emissions Gap Report and consider their implications in the lead-up to COP30 in Belém.
As the world looks toward COP30 in Belém, Brazil, the moment for decisive climate action has arrived. The latest round of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the cornerstone of the Paris Agreement, has begun to take shape. While several countries have submitted enhanced commitments, overall ambition remains uneven, and many Parties are still in the process of finalizing their updates. With climate impacts intensifying and the 1.5°C goal slipping further out of reach, this moment calls for renewed urgency and collective resolve.
UNEP’s Emissions Gap Report 2025 delivers a stark reminder that the world remains far off track to meet the 1.5°C goal. Despite advances in clean energy and finance, global emissions continue to rise, and the gap between current pledges and what is required grows wider. The report underscores that enhanced NDCs must translate into immediate, transformative action.
This high-level dialogue will unpack the findings of the Emissions Gap Report and consider their implications in the lead-up to COP30 in Belém. It will explore what the delayed and insufficient NDC submissions mean for global ambition, identify opportunities to strengthen cooperation and finance, and discuss what must be achieved in Belém and beyond to close the gap and rebuild trust in collective climate action.
