The World Food Programme (WFP) is the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate.
WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change.
In a world of plenty, where enough food is produced to feed everyone on the planet, hunger should be a thing of the past. However, conflict, climate change, disasters, inequality and – most recently – the COVID-19 pandemic mean one in nine peopleglobally is still going to bed hungryand famine looms for millions.
Powered by the passion, dedication and professionalism of almost 21,000 staff worldwide, the World Food Programme (WFP) works in over 120 countries and territories to bring life-saving food to people displaced by conflict and made destitute by disasters, and help individuals and communities find life-changing solutions to the multiple challenges they face in building better futures.
WFP is funded entirely by voluntary donations. In 2022, WFP assisted 158 million people in in over 120 countries and territories and raised a record-breaking US$ 14,2 billion.

The WFP Nordic Office is an entry point to WFP’s Nordic government partners – combined the 3rd largest overall donors to WFP and top donors of flexible funding.
Through advocacy and communication, WFP Nordic Office seeks to highlight the strategic role and crucial importance of its Nordic government partners and communicate the impact in the field and results achieved together, whether through flexible or earmarked contributions. Through engagement with key stakeholders, the office further works to safeguard and build informed constituencies and enabling environments that will strengthen the public and political will to achieve SDG2, zero hunger.
