20 March 2019 – The Global Goals for a better and sustainable future were the focal point for the Junior Culture Night hosted by #UNCity4Schools on Friday 15th of March. Around 4 pm, children and their parents arrived to UN City, which in honour of the occasion was transformed into a ‘Global Goals playground’ consisting of small ‘Islands’ with different activities.
During the afternoon and evening, children built sustainable cities of bricks, they put Global Goal number 3 into practice through dance and parkour activities and they had a taste of the protein and vitamin-containing biscuits that the World Food Programme offers to children in countries with extreme hunger. Also, the UN choir, Unison, and rapper Erik B. Jacobsen entertained with songs such as “Bridge over troubled water” and “Happy.”
The Junior Culture Night is a new initiative on the Copenhagen culture scene and the event in UN City was therefore the first of its kind. UN City welcomed in total 300 guests throughout the evening.
