DESCRIPTION:Explore how we can help rebalance our planet’s water systems during this docUNight screening of ‘Our Blue World’ \n\n\n\n\nJoin us for a film screening of ‘Our Blue World: A Water Odyssey’ narrated by Liam Neeson\, and a conversation about water as a cause for war and peace\, access to water\, and the right to water as we explore humanity’s profound relationship with water and our planet’s water systems. \nWith a focus on the water situation in Nigeria\, this docUNight is part of the Stories of a Broken Water Cycle exhibition taking place in UN City Copenhagen\, which has been created together with women and children across Nigeria. \n––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– \nRun time: 1h 30 minutes \nLanguage: English with subtitles \n––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– \nWater shapes how we live\, grow food\, build cities\, sustain ecosystems and\, support livelihoods. Yet across the world\, changing rainfall patterns\, water scarcity\, flooding\, pollution\, environmental degradation\, and growing demand are placing increasing pressure on the systems and communities that depend on it. \nHow can we move forward ensuring access to clean water for everyone? Fulfilling the right to water for everyone? And maybe even the right of water to be clean? Who has the solutions – and who holds the responsibility? What are the consequences for people\, planet\, and peaceful co-existence if we fail to act? \n––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– \nPROGRAMME\n13:00 Exhibition \n14:00 Welcome: Perspectives on Water \n\nUlla Müller — Director of the UNFPA Nordic Representation Office\, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency\nPolly Alakija — Artist and advocate – on why water in UN City Copenhagen\nThomas Jazrawi — External Lecturer\, Roskilde University – on water as a cause for war and peace\nSantosh Govindaraju — Water Sustainability Director\, Grundfos Holding A/S – on access to water as essential to human life and livelihood\nMegan Donald — Researcher\, Danish Institute for Human Rights – on the right to water and whose responsibility\n\n14:30 Film Screening ‘Our Blue World’ \n16:00 Discussion: Reflections on Water and ‘Our Blue World’ \n\nPaul O’Callaghan — Executive Producer of ‘Our Blue World’\nThomas Jazrawi\nSantosh Govindaraju\nMegan Donald\nModerated by Ulla Müller\n\n16:45 End of event \n––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– \nIMPORTANT INFORMATION\nPlease bring a valid photo-ID to get through security at UN City and set aside time for the security check before the event. \nPlease note that the check-in will open at 13:00 and close at 13:45. It will not be possible to enter UN City after this time. \nPlease reserve each ticket under each person’s name. DO NOT book tickets under your name for someone else. \nSmall refreshments will be available for purchase between 13:00–13:45. By taking a deep dive into the lives of visionary people around the world\, this beautiful\, eye opening\, and moving film sets out to reveal our relationship with water and its role as the nourishing life force for all that lives on this planet. Our Earth is in trouble and water is the vehicle through which the effects of climate change will be felt. Extreme droughts\, floods\, fires\, loss of biodiversity\, pollution\, and global warming are on the rise. Our Blue World shows that through a small shift in consciousness and practice\, we can bring enormous positive change and rebalance and regenerate life on earth. Our ancestors lived in harmony with water. They knew that water always wins. Our Blue World demonstrates how by relearning the wisdom of our ancestors and fusing it with modern science and technology\, we can transform this world for the better. \nABOUT THE SPEAKERS\nUlla Müller is the Director of the UNFPA Nordic Representation Office. SUMMARY:PEACE TALKS #2: Autonomous Weapons\, AI\, and the Future of Human Control
DESCRIPTION:🕊️ The Second Edition: 5 November | UN City Copenhagen\n🇺🇳 The UN City Peace Talks explore some of the forces shaping peace and conflict today\, and what those changes mean for international cooperation and its role in responding to them.\nThe first edition\, held in June 2026\, took the Global Peace Index as its starting point and examined a world in which conflicts are becoming more internationalised and traditional approaches to preventing and resolving them are under growing pressure. \n💬 This second edition turns to one of the developments shaping the landscape already now and likely in the years ahead: the growing role of Artificial Intelligence and autonomous technologies in warfare. \n—————————————- \nArtificial Intelligence presents both promise and peril. AI is changing what is possible in warfare. The harder question is what we decide should be possible. \nApplied responsibly\, new technologies may improve situational awareness\, precision\, and the protection of civilians and military personnel. Military systems can already identify objects\, process information\, and support decisions at speeds no human can match. \nAt the same time\, increasing autonomy in weapons systems raises fundamental questions about human judgment and control over the use of force: \nWho remains accountable for decisions made or mediated by machines? \nHow much and what kinds of human control are enough? \nCan international rules develop quickly enough to keep pace with the speed of conflict and how wars are fought? \n—————————————- \nOn 5 November\, UN City Copenhagen and the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS) invite you to the next edition of Peace Talks for a conversation going beyond the technology itself. \nWe will explore where the technology currently stands\, what increasing autonomy could mean for warfare dynamics\, how existing international law applies\, where international efforts to establish additional rules have reached\, and what are the most difficult unresolved questions. \nBringing together perspectives from the United Nations\, the Danish Government\, academia\, defence technology\, and international humanitarian law\, our discussion will ask a central question: \nHow do we preserve meaningful human responsibility for the use of force\, and what role can international cooperation play in establishing the rules that govern it? \n—————————————- \nPROGRAMME\n16:30 Welcome – Reflections on peace\, technological change\, and the role of multilateral cooperation \nJorge Moreira da Silva – UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UNOPS \n16:37 Keynote Address – Danish perspective on defence\, AI\, and responsible technological development \nSpeaker to be announced \n16:45 Setting the Scene: Autonomous weapons and the state of play \nIngvild Bode – Professor of International Relations and Director of the Center for War Studies\, University of Southern Denmark \n17:05 Discussion and Q&A \n\nIngvild Bode\nJeppe Teglskov Jacobsen – Strategic Advisor and Chief of Information\, The National Defence Technology Centre\nIben Yde – Advisor\, Rethink Advisory; Former Head of Center for Operational and International Law at The Royal Danish Defence Academy\n\n17:40 Closing Remarks \n18:00 End

She puts all her worries\, joys\, and fears into her drawings and the sculptures she makes from soaked egg cartons or clay that she finds along her escape routes. Many of her drawings feature recurring figures: a loyal fox who is her traveling companion\, a pink moon that always watches over her\, and a clown who ever laughs—a character Soraya identifies with. Using Soraya’s own footage alongside animation and documentary storytelling\, director Mehrdad Oskouei follows both the uncertainty of her journey and her determination to continue making art and rebuilding her life. Through one young woman’s experience\, the film opens a wider window onto forced displacement\, gender-based violence\, dangerous migration routes\, refugee protection\, and what it can mean to hold on to identity and aspirations while searching for somewhere safe to begin again. \nABOUT IOM\nThe International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading intergovernmental organization within the UN system\, dedicated to promoting safe\, humane\, and orderly migration since 1951.
